My department lost a very popular, retired colleague yesterday, after an all too brief battle with cancer (discovered--I think--less than a year after he was fully separated from teaching). Folklore was one of his many interests. Since I've been snapping photos of the varied architecture here in sabbatical town, I thought I'd post this collection in his memory, and lead with a house he would have enjoyed exploring, as it is FULL of folkart and little signs with quotations about the good life. The sun was at the wrong angle when I happened upon it, but you can still get a sense of its flavor.
