Mid-morning, MP1 and I headed to IKEA in the Peanut (aka my Prius). Honestly, this car is just amazing. It is so quiet that you can be cruising at 83 mph and think you're barely going 60. Very scary. Also, if the car is running in the electric mode (which is standard in a parking lot situation), people and dogs tend to not hear you driving behind them, so they either don't get out of the way or they have a minor heart attack when they realize you're there. Short of honking the horn, which will also scare them, I don't know what to do about that. But, we are quickly becoming a Prius Nation, so maybe people will become more attuned to the sound of cars running purely on battery power. We shelled out about $150 on stuff we did and didn't need. In the former category, I am happy to announce that I finally remembered to get a cute trash can for the patio, so maybe the poolman will quit emptying the filters, with all their weed seeds and leaves, into the flower beds. Everything fit very easily into the car, with plenty of room to spare. Nonetheless, I won't be going again anytime soon; I can only take IKEA once every 3 or 4 months at best. It's a love/hate relationship.
The rest of the afternoon and night was spent with friends, eating pure junk (except for the yummy roasted corn), watching people and other animals, and listening to some really good music. Here are some favorite photos.
